PBM Takes Part in #GivingTuesday Global Campaign
Winter Wonderland & GoFundMe Allow Supporters to Help Youth in Great Ways
Washington, DC – On December 2nd 2014, Powerful Beyond Measure (PBM) will be one of the non-profit partners included in Giving Tuesday.
#GivingTuesday is a global campaign that encourages bigger and smarter charitable giving, by harnessing the collective power of a unique blend of partners—charities, families, businesses and individuals—to transform how people think about, talk about and participate in the giving holiday season.
WHO: PBM is an all-volunteer organization formed to focus all energy on developing young people – utilizing arts, sports and media in productive ways to pique the interest of urban youth who may have needs not addressed in other programs. C.A.P.E. League is PBM’s year-round enrichment program created to impact the lives of youth ages 11-17 with experience and education beyond the classroom. The program’s strategy is to reach out to youth and engage them per their interests – while developing them in a variety of other key areas, to include: Career & College Exploration; Cultural Experiences; Creative Expression & Exploration; Academic Enrichment; Personal & Social Development; Athletic Activity; Community Outreach & Volunteerism; Entertainment & Media Industry Exposure. We are an inclusive program and open to ALL children; however, we particularly recruit youth who are classified as “at-risk”; within the foster care system; have ADHD, developmental or learning challenges; are experiencing self-esteem, social or behavioral issues; or part of single parent and/or lower-income families.
WHAT: PBM’s Giving Tuesday campaign aims to raise funds for C.A.P.E. League; which after eight years of programming now has a waiting list. Without key donations and funding, the program cannot afford to accept any more children and still maintain the quality year-round, comprehensive programming we aim to provide. C.A.P.E. aims to fully integrate the lives of adolescents with opportunities, education, role models, resources and tools to help them develop into productive, active and successful adults. On #GivingTuesday, PBM hopes to inspire people around the world to help this program, and the organization grow.
HOW: Those who are interested in joining Powerful Beyond Measure’s #GivingTuesday initiative can visit www.powerbeyondmeasure.org and donate on-line.Taking place the Tuesday after Thanksgiving – #GivingTuesday utilizes social media to create a national movement around dedicated to giving.
“As a grassroots organization that generates most of its funding from donations and initiatives, we are so grateful for large-scale opportunities to help grow our programs through financial, and also volunteer resources. We are hoping our campaigns help us avail our programs to more youth who need us,” says Executive Director, Tracy Press.
During the holiday season, Powerful Beyond Measure is also hosting two other ways to give and support the organization: Winter Wonderland of the Artsfund-raising event and a GoFundMe campaign to help fund the CAPE League magazine project
PBM GoFundMe Campaign: Powerful Beyond Measure is currently running a campaign on GoFundMe.com to raise $5,000 that will go toward completion of our Arts and Culture Magazine project. The magazine project was designed to allow C.A.P.E. members to explore their creativity, learn new skills, develop an appreciation and tolerance for different cultures, enhance their writing skills and walk away with a finished product to add to their portfolio. The money raised will not only help them print and produce the magazine, but will also help them take their trip to New York to visit an art museum, have a cultural dining experience, visit a real-life media company and hopefully see a theater performance. gofund.me/CAPELeague-PBM
